Frequently asked questions
Why is it needed to book in advance?
There are limited places, so booking in advance ensures that there is never more people than available places. Furthermore, in case I need to cancel a session for any reason, having a list of attendance allows me to notify each and every expected attendee beforehand, so that no one finds out after they have already arrived and are wondering why there is no one on sight.
Why small groups?
Doing group sessions instead of individual sessions is more affordable, as individual sessions usually cost 50-60€ per hour. In addition, group sessions have another benefit, which is that they promote more social interaction within the participants.
The downside of group sessions is that the psychologist’s time and attention must be divided between all participants. That is why it is carried out in small groups. Having a limited ammount of places available allows all participants to receive enough attention. An exception to that are cases of advanced dementia, for which group sessions are not suitable, because they require more attention.
Who is it for?
People of any age, who either already have some degree of cognitive decline, or are still healthy and would love to prevent it.
When talking about cognitive decline I refer to these symptoms (such as memory loss, poor attention, lack of concentration, deficient planning and decision making) when caused by a neurodegenerative disease (such as Alzheimer’s disease); however, in cases in which those symptoms are present but due to an adquired brain injury (such as a stroke) or a neurodevelpmental disorder (such as ADHD), these sessions could be beneficial too, as the cognitive functions affected could be the same. It is recommended to get in contact to explore the benefits and downsides of each particular case.
Who is it NOT for?
Anyone would be accepted unless: a) they would not benefit from the sessions (for example in cases of advanced dementia, in which they required more attention than they can receive in group sessions), or b) they could put in risk or harm themselves or someone else (for example, if they cannot be left alone but there is a risk they run away in the middle of the session; or if they get aggressive easily).
How do the packs of sessions work?
Instead of paying for just one session, you can buy a pack of 3 or 5 sessions for a discounted price. Buying a pack of 3 sessions you would save 5€, although it is worth buying the pack of 5 sessions, because you would save 25€.
You have three months (from the date you pay for the pack) for using those sessions, so you won’t lose money if one week you can’t come for any reason (unless that happens for way too many weeks).
Why isn't it cheaper?
It could definitely be cheaper if I invested less time and energy in preparing the sessions (or none at all), and filled them with more people; but I don’t want to do that, because yes it would be cheaper, but it would also mean less quality.
